Migration - Document & Report Hives

Jonathan Semones -

Documents and Web reports are ideally stored in the LucityServer share in a Document hive similar to the following

Each directory within the hive stores a different type of shared element that is stored in this shared repository.  If you are just moving your web applications around you do not need to worry about moving the files in the Document hive because they will automatically be available when the web applications connect to your database.  However, if you are moving your document hive then you will need to update the system.

How to move the document hive

  1. Check for the locations where Lucity stores files.
    1. In Lucity Web open the Admin Portal Settings > System Settings.
    2. Review the following settings that indicate the directories
      • Citizen App Hive - Citizen settings > Path where custom citizen app files are stored
      • Citizen Document Hive - Documents settings > Path where uploaded documents are stored
      • Internal Document Hive - Documents settings > Path where uploaded documents are stored
      • Sign Picture Library - Documents settings > Path where uploaded Sign Library images are stored
      • Custom Reports Hive - Reporting settings > Path where Reports are stored.
    3. !Important! You can move any of these directories but should not change the file structure within the indicated directory.
  2. Copy the directory(ies) that you want to move
  3. Paste them in the desired location.
    • Note: We suggest placing it within the same LucityServer Share that contains your lucity server configuration.  If this is done you do not need to share the files you only need to update the security to allow access to the windows account that runs the document server.
    • Note: We suggest that if you do not currently have the various hives consolidated in one location that you do so.  However, this is up to your discretion
  4. Share this folder
    • Share Name: \\<servername or aliasname>\DocShare
    • Security:
      • LucityDoc - The windows account that is used to run the Lucity Document Server. (may have a different name)  This account should have Read and Change permissions in the Share.
  5. Check Permissions
    • Security:
      • LucityDoc - The windows account that is used to run the Lucity Document Server. (may have a different name)  This account should have Modify, Read & Execute, List folder contents, Read and Write permissions.
  6. Update the locations in lucity.
    1. In Lucity Web open the Admin Portal Settings > System Settings.
    2. Update the following settings with the new path for any directories that you moved.  Make sure the path you enter is one that the LucityDoc user will have access to.
      • Citizen App Hive - Citizen settings > Path where custom citizen app files are stored
      • Citizen Document Hive - Documents settings > Path where uploaded documents are stored
      • Internal Document Hive - Documents settings > Path where uploaded documents are stored
      • Sign Picture Library - Documents settings > Path where uploaded Sign Library images are stored
      • Custom Reports Hive - Reporting settings > Path where Reports are stored.
